Most members of this group are not against wind farms in moderation. However, we are opposed to any more wind farms being developed in Western Galloway (Wigtownshire) and particularly the area of sea bed that has been identified for development at the Mull of Galloway. Wigtownshire has more than a fair share of wind farms. In this small area there are 4 W/F’s operating, another 8 in the pipeline and 6 proposed in the Solway Firth, one of which will be huge (see Solway map below). In addition, D&G Council has identified more land for W/F development in the Galloway Hills. This is on top of about 130 individual or small groups of turbines mainly on farms.
The area will soon look like one huge power station
